AI Mindmeld: A Latent Interconnect Protocol
LLMs used as scientific agents usually receive specialist information as text, images, audio or video, which creates a bottleneck for rich, high-dimensional representations. The authors propose the Latent Interconnect Protocol (LIP), which trains connectors that map specialist representations into LLM internal states while all pretrained models stay frozen. Connecting three protein and three small-molecule specialists to Gemma 3 and Kimi K2.6, they report useful information for new question types and zero-shot transfer to cross-domain tasks without joint training.
