AgentRivet: an automated system for producing Rivet routines from journal publications

Only 39% of particle physics measurements have publicly available Rivet routines, which are needed to compare models with data. The authors built AgentRivet, a multi-step workflow using large language models that extracts analysis details from papers and writes the missing routines, with intermediate code and physics reviews. Tested on two ATLAS and CMS measurements with models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, it produced routines with few syntax errors and reasonable physics fidelity, though ambiguous definitions in the papers and complex observables caused problems for some models.
