FOMTools: Development and AI-Assisted Code Generation for First-Order Methods
FOMTools is an open-source Python package for developing, analyzing, and deploying first-order algorithms for parametric linear and convex quadratic optimization. A coding agent translates the iteration into C or CUDA code and optimizes it, and each generated version is checked against a reference run. The generated solvers run up to two orders of magnitude faster than NumPy implementations, and the authors report that they also outperform hand-written GPU code and CVXPYgen's OSQP solvers.
