oMEGACat. IX. Chemical Tagging of Omega Centauri Populations with Machine-Learning-Inferred Abundances from the MUSE Spectrograph

Measuring stellar abundances in the crowded core of ω Centauri is difficult for fiber-fed spectroscopy. The authors applied the neural network DD-Payne to MUSE spectra of 7,302 red giant branch stars and combined the results with previous high-resolution studies. They mapped elemental variations across the chromosome diagram and tested proposed formation scenarios against the observed abundance–metallicity–age relations, finding that none fully explains them all.
