The continued state of global AI diffusion in 2026
Microsoft's latest Global AI Diffusion Report shows that worldwide generative AI usage reached 18.8% of the working-age population in Q2 2026, up about one point from Q1. The UAE (73.3%) and Singapore (64.3%) lead the rankings, while Japan recorded the largest relative increase at 2.2 percentage points. The gap between the Global North (28.8%) and the Global South (16.2%) also continued to widen.
