New formulation helps RNA vaccines withstand high temperatures

MIT researchers used an AI algorithm to adjust the formulation of the lipid nanoparticles that deliver RNA vaccines, making them more heat-resistant. The vaccines stayed stable for up to a year at room temperature or for two months at nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit. In mice, a Covid-19 vaccine carried by these particles produced an immune response as strong as a Moderna-like RNA vaccine, and the algorithm reduced the number of experiments needed.
