At MIT, Martha Minow speaks on sustaining democracy, both by using and overcoming AI
Harvard Law School professor Martha Minow delivered MIT's Compton Lecture on threats to democracy, the challenges AI poses to it, and how AI could better inform people and serve civic value. She cited violations of laws and norms, the stifling of free speech, and reduced congressional authority. Citing Gallup polling, she noted that 77 percent of people say the country's founders would be disappointed by its current condition.
