AI and the law: Spotlighting the legal and ethical pitfalls
This article examines the legal risks that arise from AI, with a focus on the regulatory landscapes of the EU and the UK. The EU AI Act, in force since August 2024, sets specific requirements for high-risk AI systems, while the UK has yet to legislate and is instead developing industry-specific rules based on similar principles. The article argues that a proactive approach to AI trust, which customers increasingly demand, can go beyond compliance to build confidence, strengthen brands and drive value.
