This paper examines how AI companies can design an AI ethics board so that it reduces risks from AI. It identifies five high-level design choices: responsibilities, legal structure, membership, decision-making and whether decisions are binding, and resources. Each choice is broken into sub-questions with options, and the authors present the paper as a toolbox to help companies overcome the challenges that past failures have revealed.
