The AI expectations gap
This note presents new survey evidence comparing how US adults and Anthropic staff expect AI to reshape the economy. By 2030, 39% of US adults and 91% of Anthropic staff expect AI to make a Nobel-level discovery. The authors also examine whether disagreement about AI's economic impact stems from differing views on the pace of capability gains or on how quickly those capabilities translate into real-world adoption.
