The 2026 AI Index from Stanford HAI tracks data on AI's technical progress, economic influence and societal impact. It reports that industry produced over 90% of notable frontier models in 2025, and that performance on SWE-bench Verified rose from 60% to near 100% in a single year. Organizational adoption reached 88%, and U.S. and Chinese models have repeatedly traded the lead since early 2025.
