How Claude designed protein binders against scorpion neurotoxins

As part of work exploring how Claude can help accelerate drug discovery, an internal research Claude model was asked to design minibinders—small proteins that attach tightly to a target—against scorpion neurotoxins. The model worked mainly autonomously over 64 hours, and of the 211 designs tested experimentally by teams at Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience, 17 met the binding criteria. All 211 designs and their data are being released as a resource for the field, with the hope that such binders could one day support a scorpion antivenom.
