Tokyo Expands AI Matchmaking and Singles Events With ¥700 Million Budget

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has allocated approximately ¥700 million ($4.4 million) to marriage support in fiscal 2026, more than double the previous year’s budget. The money funds singles events and an AI matchmaking service. Tokyo spent approximately ¥800 million on these programmes across the previous three fiscal years combined.
