Stevens INI researchers use generative AI to fill gaps in brain wiring maps

USC researchers developed a generative AI model that fills gaps in MRI-based maps of the brain's nerve pathways, using scans from nearly 2,000 adults. The model reconstructed missing nerve fiber information in two difficult-to-image regions and produced more complete maps of a major movement pathway. Its outputs are estimates, not recovered measurements, and it has not been evaluated for patient care.
