Two teenagers referred to prosecutors for using AI to build fake payment site and steal personal data, Shiga police

Two men, aged 19 and 17, are suspected of using generative AI to create a fake payment service site and improperly obtaining personal information such as email addresses and phone numbers entered on it. Police say they lured people to the site with fake campaign posts on social media. They admitted the allegations, and the information was used to book accommodation and to buy game consoles for resale.
