Chilean company adds WhatsApp-based AI to algal bloom monitoring

Chilean technology company Plancton Andino has upgraded its algal monitoring platform so salmon farmers can identify potentially harmful microalgae using AI and images submitted through WhatsApp. The new version of the ADICFito platform can recognise more than 90 groups of phytoplankton. It helps aquaculture operators identify species that could pose a risk to farmed fish.
